MELAKA, Oct 5 -- Harta Oil and Gas Equipment Sdn Bhd has targeted an increase in income to over RM15 million annually beginning next year with the opening of its new warehouse here today.
Chief executive officer Datuk Chiw Tiang Chai said the company, involved in the distribution of goods for the industrial sector, especially oil and gas, had been achieving an annual income of RM10 million from its two distribution centres in Taman Merdeka and Sungai Udang.
"Our two centres can store goods worth RM2 million and with our new warehouse, we can store goods worth RM10 million," he told reporters after the officiating of the new RM6.5 million warehosue by Melaka Governor Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob on Tuesday.
Also present were Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam and Deputy Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Maglin Dennis D'Cruz.
Chiw said the new warehouse of 0.81 hectares was bought in January this year at a cost of RM2.5 million and renovations came up to RM4 million.
He said the warehouse would enable Harta to have more choices and stocks available for clients such as safety googles, fireproof clothings and safety helmets.
Previously, the clients had to wait for more than a week when the products were not in stock and needed to be ordered from Europe.
Chiw said the company planned to open distribution centres in Shah Alam or Terengganu next year and was also keen to test the market in Asean countries, especially Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand.
Harta was set up in May 3, 2007, with a paid-up capital of RM1 million and the company currently has about 40 employees.
In his speech, Mohd Ali said that up to July this year, the state had attracted RM756 million investment from the industrial sector compared to RM892 million investment involving 23 projects last year.
"I am optimistic that we can achieve RM1 billion in total investment in the industrial sector by end of this year. Melaka is working towards providing the best facilities and manpower to attract more investors from inside and outside the country," he said. - Bernama
